The Roots That Bind Us

Every summer, our extended family gathers at my grandmother's old farmhouse in the countryside. To some, the loud arguments and overlapping conversations might seem chaotic, but for us, it is a reminder that blood is thicker than water. No matter how far we stray, we always return to this place to reconnect with our heritage. My grandmother, the undisputed matriarch of the clan, is ninety years old but remains sharp as a tack. My sister, Liya, has always been the apple of her eye. Liya is a brilliant doctor who recently moved back to the city to be closer to home. However, grandmother never gave up on him, even when he went through a rough patch and lost his gallery in Paris.

Now, Solomon is finally back on his feet and has opened a small studio in the village.
